Meet the Stone Mountaineers Mook (The Young Zack Morris), Vee (The Ralph Lauren Mascot), and (Kid) Myko McFly. Together they make up the Def Jam super group the Fast Life Youngstaz, better known as FLY. In their early stages, it was Vee and Myko McFly who were in a rap group called “Die Hard” when they were in High School while Mook was in his own rap group called “Affiliated.” The two groups came together to form two different and more powerful groups called “Band Geakz” and “Fast Life Youngstaz” (FLY). The “FLY” concept comes from the swaggerific notion of being trendsetters with a fast lifestyle, setting tones in the way they dress and approach life’s treasures on a positive note. Their music meshes a sense of feel good music into festival killer party bangers. FLY takes the genre of party rap to a brand new high. Their single “Swag Surfin’” sent waves throughout the U.S. party scene and YouTube with street thugs and suburb kids screaming “Cowabunga” and doing the “Swag Surfin’” dance alike. The single was so popular that the NBA’s Atlanta Hawks used it as their 2009 Playoff theme song. FLY shows the masses on their debut album “Jamboree” that they are not just another Atlanta one-hit wonder project as they bring songs like the Kevin Erondu (KE on the track) produced “Band” which gives homage to HBCU (Historically Black Colleges and Universities) school bands such as Texas Southern, Bethune Cookman, Tennessee State, Miles College and Jackson State. The song is an event within itself making it a half-time show dub for a football classic. The Fast Life Youngstaz push the envelope in “Party-Time” intertwining the lingo of a California surfer with an Atlanta hip-hop alien, all in the spirit of a good party. They bring on Grand Hustle’s platinum artist Young Dro on the club flamer “Mr. Lenox” which serves as the third generation, L.A. Reid induced Outkast’s “So fresh So clean.” The song pays homage to the popular Atlanta shopping center “Lenox Square Mall” with flows like “I pop tags for exercise like L.A. Fitness/ left the mall with 30 bags/ but I’m still not finished.” The swaggerologists threat a new dance floor hit on the Soulja Boy-like tune “Prada Walkin’” which features Band Geakz. With the co-sign from a giant like Def Jam, FLY can become synonymous with the thought of a party or night club. Sticking with the formula that has given them high-speed success can put the Fast Life Youngstaz on a consistent track.
