The wonderful sounds of SuperBowl 44
The New Orleans Saints march to victory over the Indianapolis Colts in this year’s Superbowl. The big game was held in Miami and featured some great music from well-known artists. Jay-Z kicked off the SuperBowl programing with a new rendition of his hit single “Run this Town” which featured Rihanna and ES Posthumus. Where was Kanyeezy? Nevertheless, since President Obama hit him on the “jack” it seems that Jay-Z has been finding himself on some large stages.
Your highness Queen Latifah surprisingly sang “God Bless America” as apart of the opening ceremony. Now a successful actor and singer she was formerly known as the crown holder for female rappers. She recently produced an award winning documentary called “The Hip Hop Project”, peep the review here. It goes to show that talent knows no boundaries.
American Idol winner and country music superstar Carrie Underwood flawlessly sang the National Anthem to open up the game. Her performance was so powerful that even she had to take a second breathe to gather herself in its conclusion. Practice makes perfect!
For the halftime festivities, with the Indianapolis Colts in the lead, legendary rock group and CSI anthem originators who originally started their career playing blues, The Who, performed a great show with an entertaining light show.
By games end, one can remember this SuperBowl as a special one with the New Orleans Saints taking home their first ever NFL championship. The music that surrounded the biggest sports event in the world, in which Super Bowl 44 holds the most televised viewership in history, surpassing the season finale for M.A.S.H. in 1983 , enhanced it to a level that made it even more memorable for the “Who Dat?” nation.
