“Skies Wide Open” (Featuring Avant) Soars Into Urban AC Top 15
SANTA MONICA, CA - July 14, 2010 - Reaching out to a new online-oriented audience, chart-topping multi-instrumentalist Brian Culbertson is launching one of the genre’s most creative and coordinated online promotional campaigns. The “12 Days of XII” heralds the release of the keyboard king’s 12th album, XII, which guests such sensational R&B singers as Brian McKnight, Faith Evans and Avant. Each day for 12 days beginning Wednesday, July 14th, a new video feature and a new audio podcast–both tied to one of the album’s 12 songs and presented in tracklist order — will be available at www.brianculbertson.com. XII (GRP Records) will be released July 20, 2010.
Giving video shout-outs will be Avant and other album guests–Go-Go party jam master Chuck Brown, 21st century soul man Kenny Lattimore and the renowned Ray Parker Jr. Videos will also include favorite clips from the video blog Culbertson created during the making of the album, behind-the-scenes footage from the music video for XII’s first Urban AC single, “Skies Wide Open” featuring Avant (which has already cracked the Top 15 on that chart) and more. Meanwhile, each podcast will reveal Culbertson’s thoughts about that day’s featured song. The content will be refreshed daily at 1 p.m. ET and then archived at his YouTube site (www.youtube.com/brianculbertsonmusic).
“This record was such a blast to make,” says Culbertson, “so I’ve done my best to share the creative experience with my fans in lots of different ways. The ‘12 Days of XII‘ is just the cap on top!”
Twelves are also wild with a “Find the 12″ game. Clicking on the twelve 12s at www.findthe12.com unlocks a free download of “Skies Wide Open.” Other events during the “12 Days of XII” include radio specials on XM and the Smooth Jazz Network and Culbertson performances at Jazz Fest West (San Dimas, CA), the Winter Park Jazz Festival (Winter Park, CO) and with The Experience with Dedry Jones (Chicago, IL) as well as an online Ustream chat with the artist on release date, July 20th.
